Types of Anaesthesia
Anaesthetic Options We Offer
We understand that each patient and each procedure is unique. Our anaesthesiologists select and tailor the most appropriate technique always prioritising your safety, comfort, and the clinical requirements of your surgery.
General Anaesthesia
Induces a controlled state of unconsciousness and complete absence of sensation throughout the body used for major surgical procedures where the patient needs to be fully asleep. Carefully titrated and continuously monitored throughout the operation.
Regional Anaesthesia
Blocks sensation in a specific region of the body while the patient remains conscious or lightly sedated. Includes spinal, epidural, and peripheral nerve blocks commonly used for orthopaedic, obstetric, and lower limb procedures, with the benefit of reduced systemic side effects.
Local Anaesthesia & Sedation
Numbs a targeted small area for minor procedures, or combines sedation with local agents for monitored anaesthesia care (MAC). Ideal for day procedures and diagnostics with rapid recovery and minimal physiological disruption.

What to Expect
Your Anaesthesia Journey, Step by Step
Understanding what happens at each stage helps reduce anxiety and allows you to be fully prepared for your procedure. Our anaesthesiologists will explain every step and answer all your questions before, during, and after surgery.
01
Pre-operative Consultation
Your anaesthesiologist meets with you before surgery to review your medical history, current medications, allergies, and previous anaesthetic experiences and discusses the safest approach for your procedure.
02
Fasting & Preparation
You will be given specific instructions on when to stop eating and drinking before your procedure. Following these is essential for your safety during anaesthesia administration.
03
Induction of Anaesthesia
In the operating theatre, anaesthesia is carefully administered either via inhalation agents, intravenous agents, or a combination while all vital signs are continuously monitored.
04
Intraoperative Monitoring
Throughout your procedure, your anaesthesiologist maintains optimal depth of anaesthesia and closely monitors your breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, and temperature.
05
Reversal & Recovery
At the end of surgery, anaesthesia is reversed and you are transferred to the recovery area where our nursing team monitors you until you are awake, comfortable, and stable.
06
Post-operative Pain Control
Our team ensures effective post-operative pain relief using nerve blocks, epidural analgesia, or oral medication so your recovery is as comfortable as possible.
